Bone grafts

Clinical cases

A procedure performed when the jawbone or maxilla is insufficient to accommodate an implant. It involves adding bone material to regenerate and strengthen the area, creating a firm foundation that allows for the secure placement of fixed teeth.

Case 1 - Branch graft

In many cases, the loss of a tooth for several years also causes bone loss, which makes implant placement difficult.

This was the case with our patient, who had been missing a tooth for over 10 years and was experiencing severe bone loss. She had been told elsewhere that implant placement was not possible.

At CICEM, we perform an autologous bone graft (using bone from your own jaw) to restore the necessary thickness and prepare the area to receive your dental implant.
Thanks to this procedure, we were able to successfully restore her smile and restore the confidence she had lost.

Case 2 - Sinus lift

In the upper part of our mouth, there is a structure called the maxillary sinus, located above the molars and premolars. With age and tooth loss, this space tends to expand, reducing the bone height available for implant placement.

Our patient presented precisely this condition: low bone height in the posterior area of the maxilla.

To solve the problem, we perform a maxillary sinus lift, a procedure in which the sinus membrane is carefully lifted and a bone graft is placed to restore the necessary height.

Thanks to this procedure, her dental implant was safely placed, achieving a successful and functional result that restored her confidence in her smile.

Case 3 - Ridge expansion

When a tooth extraction is traumatic, it can cause bone loss at the time of the procedure. If several years go by without teeth, the bone tends to decrease in both thickness and height, making implant placement difficult.

In certain cases, a bone expansion technique can be applied, which primarily restores bone thickness and, to a lesser extent, bone height, creating a suitable base for receiving implants.

Our patient presented with this problem in both her upper jaw and mandible and desired dental implants for a complete restoration. Thanks to the expansion technique, we were able to obtain the necessary bone quality and place the implants that allowed her to receive fixed full dentures, restoring her functionality and a new smile.

Case 4 - Ridge expansion

Traumatic tooth extractions and the passage of time can cause significant bone loss, reducing the thickness necessary for the placement of dental implants.

In this case, the patient had a lack of bone thickness that prevented conventional rehabilitation. To address this, a bone crest expansion was performed, a technique that allowed the patient to regain sufficient bone width.

Thanks to this procedure, it was possible to successfully place the implants and restore both dental functionality and aesthetics, achieving a renewed and natural smile.

Case 5 - Block graft

In cases of severe bone loss, block grafting can restore the thickness and height necessary for the placement of dental implants.

Our patient, who lost teeth and bone after a childhood accident, was rehabilitated with this technique. Thanks to the procedure, we were able to successfully place implants and restore her confidence in her smile.
